Rainbow Trout from Stream in Bay of Plenty

Trout, that elusive prey that we spend all our time stalking...   We pulled out our trout fishing gear and had a sort up recently and have calculated that our trout above cost around two grand to get  !!   
Was it worth it  ?  YES !!  Every second was worth it but you have to be into trout fishing to appreciate it.  
This trout above we caught in a very small stream after an enjoyable day creeping about the trees along the stream and stalking a large group of trout and caught none of them.  Just about to give it up we tried one more time and ..  snap,  the line struck gold or rainbow in this case - it tasted divine too.  Smoked after being sprinkled with salt and brown sugar - sorry to all those who like to return their catch !

Fly Fishing Flies and other goodies

What fly to use ?  After you have your rod the next question is which fly to use.   I like to have lots !  I needed lots to begin with as they decorated every available surface imaginable :) And I hate even the thought that I might not have enough of the right one for the job.   Besides I love the way they look and if all else fails, I can look at my fly case and wish I was fishing !                                     Gear I use: I normally use a Penn Fly Reel both for floating and sinking line and depending on the time of the year and what is around, favor Woolly Bugger flies   in various colors, but have caught mainly on the black woolly Bugger with the olive green one second best.
