Fishing a Small Stream NZ
We took a few weeks off work and headed for one of our favorite small rivers to camp out and just fish. Unfortunately, we took a non fisher person !
Don't ever do it ! Sure, they say they will be happy just reading, just absorbing the peace and quiet..... until ......
just as you are into serious concentration there is a loud screech and "Hey, check this out ...... did you see this, ,,, what about that bird, this bush
etc........ meanwhile the fish is long gone, not to mention your concentration ! We were lucky enough to return, by ourselves, without the non fisher person ! Armed with our new gear and some new techniques and better ways to tie on our flies so they wouldn't disappear at the first tug of the line we were again hooked !! I think this fishing think seems to be working in reverse - we are hooked, the fish wasn't. We spent a brief time with a fellow fisherman who took guiding trips in the South Island and in a few short moves he helped us to discover where our casting was going wrong, the joy ! We could cast and fish without decorating the trees and bushes with our flies, the line was actually IN the water and not up a tree !
We learnt firsthand how important it is to find out from people who have been there and done it how to shave mega amounts of time off the learning process and make it easier to catch fish, safely, and without losing our flies and gear, like the time we almost lost a brand new rod in the Tongariro River in New Zealand.
I am sure you too would like to find ways to improve your technique and have hungry fish just fighting to take your line and you can find out how to do this in just days how to Have Hungry Fish fighting to take your line
